Going Local
People often think that by going to their local car dealership
that they will get a better deal than if they went a few miles
out of town. Often this is wrong and the reverse is true.
This is because a lot of people assume that as a resident
of a particular area, this somehow means their local car dealerships
sales staff (who currently have no idea who you are or where
you come from), will give you a better deal than if you purchased
your new car from somewhere further afield.
Smiling sales people will often wax lyrical about the fact
that they have a relative who lives near to you and as a result
they will then sound as though they are offering you a better
deal. Most good sales people will try and build up a rapport
with you, emphasising on how similar you are to them and their
family in order to make you feel comfortable in dealing with
them.
Whenever you step into your local car dealership, remember
that they are going to sell you whatever vehicle(s) they need
to get rid of in order to meet the dealerships, and their
personal, sales targets.
Good advice is to shop around and not rely completely on your
local dealership to offer you the best deal around. Who knows,
maybe your dealership can offer you a very good deal, but
that is no excuse not for you to shop around a little and
at least try to get a better deal for yourself.
You are the one paying back for the car, so you may as well
get off on the right foot with your motor loan and start by
visiting several car showrooms before thinking about buying
one.
